Frequently Asked Questions

What are your qualifications?

Over the past 5 years I have been fortunate enough to service hundreds of families and help them get sleep in their home. I am a Certified Sleep Sense Consultant who was hand selected by the creator, Dana Obleman to join a small group of women in Sarasota Florida for extensive sleep training followed by 3 months of mentorship with Dana herself. I am currently finishing my Holistic Sleep Coach Certificate with Lyndsey Hookway out of the United Kingdom. I have an advanced diploma as a Child and Youth Worker and have spent over a decade helping children and youth who struggle with a variety of emotional and physical disorders. My biggest qualification is that I am a mother who gave birth to a daughter that wasn’t a great sleeper. I have lived the sleepless life, tried all the tricks of the trade and have come out the other side to share my story and support others.

What is the difference between a sleep training book and a sleep consultant?

The biggest difference is the one-on-one support you’ll receive along with a personalized plan tailored to your family’s lifestyle. No baby is exactly the same so how can a book answer all of your questions? 98% of my client success comes from the detailed personal follow up support that I provide to them. You will receive daily check-ins, scheduled phone calls and customized tools to help you get your little one sleeping. I will guide you every step of the way and I won’t leave until you’ve reached your sleep goals!

When should I start implementing healthy sleep habits?

Healthy sleep habits are great for EVERYONE and I highly recommend instilling those practices as soon as you can! I offer a variety of packages to help families with children of all ages. Please take a look at my service page to find the package that best suits you.

Will my little one cry?

While adjusting your child’s sleep habits and teaching them to sleep independently you can expect some crying to occur. Crying is your child expressing their frustration to change and as we make some changes to their sleep routines, we can expect some frustration to happen.

However, I will never ask you to leave your child to cry alone, nor will I ask you to ignore their cries. My method is by no means a “cry it out” approach. The reason that my techniques are so effective is that we develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child and what works best for your family.

What sleep training method do you use?

I offer a variety of sleep training methods to accommodate the variety of clients I work with. Through our consultation and extensive questionnaire, I’ll learn more about your family and we can pick an approach that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child and what works for you.

How quickly will I see results?

I can’t give an exact time because every child is different but most families who commit to the sleep plan see results within a few days. I ask families to give 100% commitment to the sleep plan for the first 2-3 weeks while working with me. This is very important for your little one as we don’t want to confuse them and they need time for their bodies to adjust to their new schedule.

Do breastfeeding and healthy sleep habits go together?

YES, not only do they go well together but instilling healthy sleep habits right from the beginning can actually make your nursing relationship better! If a mother is struggling from chronic sleep deprivation it can affect her mood and also negatively impact her milk supply. If your baby is constantly in a state of being overtired, it can cause hyperarousal and irritability which can make feeds more challenging. Also, a baby who is dealing with chronic fatigue will often fall asleep during feeds which can turn a full feed into snack and snoozing. I’m a huge supporter of sleep and feeds. We will make sure our customized plans accommodate both!

Do I have to give up feeds during the night?

No, I would never ask you to give up feeding during the night unless this is something you are wanting to do and your child meets certain criteria to do so.

I'm needing support for more than one child can you still help me?

Yes! We can work on getting EVERYONE sleeping in your home. I offer special packages when working with multiple children. Please contact me for more information.
